Gain the knowledge, skills and attitude to safely carry a firearm for self-defense, exceeding the requirement for a Mississippi Enhanced Concealed Carry Permit. Six hours of classroom instruction and two hours of live fire.

Additionally, you will learn rules for safe gun handling; developing a personal and home protection plan; home security; firearms basics such as pistol parts and operation, ammunition, firearms cleaning & storage and defensive firearms selection; shooting fundamentals, grip stance, and trigger control; legal use of force, use of force continuum, four pillars of deadly force, Mississippi Law; physiological & psychological reactions to violent encounters & their aftermath; firearms gear & accessories; and continued opportunities for skill development.

During the MS Law and Legal Use of Force blocks you will not only learn the laws governing concealed carry but look at how those laws were applied in court cases and jury instructions to help you better understand when you may use lethal force in self-defense within the elements of self-defense law. As Andrew Branca says, “You carry a gun so you’re hard to kill, know the law so your hard to convict.”

This course is also designed for persons not interested in obtaining a concealed weapons permit, but desire to increase their recognition of danger and how not to become a victim, without necessarily requiring using any level of force. If you choose not to shoot a firearm, you may receive a certificate of completion for the Non-Firing Curriculum.
